Since completion, Salesforce Tower, located in San Francisco, California, is known as the tallest building in the Western United States at 1,070-ft. CTLGroup provided engineering consulting services for the development of this prominent building.
In the initial stages of construction, CTLGroup worked to resolve a complex engineering problem related to the Load Bearing Elements (LBEs) of the building. This involved onsite assistance for an extended period of time. CTLGroup later provided mass concrete consulting services for the mat foundation which was approximately 190×190-ft. in plan and up to 14-ft. thick.
CTLGroup performed thermal modeling and developed a thermal control plan for the foundation. As part of this effort, a tailored temperature difference limit was developed for the utilized concrete, which helped reduce the time of thermal control without subjecting the concrete to excessive thermal stresses.
