Principal Scientist, Don Broton, is Promoted to Group Director of Materials Technology
SKOKIE, IL (January 24, 2020) – CTLGroup would like to congratulate Don Broton on his promotion to Group Director, Materials Technology. In this new role, Mr. Brotonwill oversee our Materials Technology group where they focus on evaluation and analytical examinations of coatings/polymeric materials, metals/metallurgy, and waste stream products/supplementary cementitious materials.
Mr. Broton joined CTLGroup in 1988 and recently celebrated 31 years of service with CTLGroup this past October. He has over 35 years of industry experience and holds a BS in Biology/Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His expertise resides in the analysis and evaluation of cement and cementitious systems that include base materials such as limestone, gypsum, clinker, ground granulated blast furnace slag, fly ash and silica fume.
Mr. Broton is involved with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) where he is the former chair of Subcommittee C01.23, which deals with composition of cement. He was awarded an ASTM Honorary Membership in recognition for outstanding service to Committee C01 on cement in 2019. Mr. Broton is also a member of the Cement Chemist Society, International Cement Microscopy Association, and the Annual Denver X-ray Conference, where he is an organizing member and Session Chair. Additionally, Mr. Broton is an author of over 30 industry-related publications and presentations.
