In this published article, the service life of structural and construction material components in nuclear power facilities is discussed. It is essential that the current condition and potential degradation of plant structures be evaluated as a number of aging nuclear facilities that have expiring operating licenses and several new nuclear projects begin to break ground. To insure safe operation, upgrading facilities to be sustainable and green is becoming increasingly important, though challenging.
