David Corr is Clinical Professor and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Northwestern University. Dr. Corr teaches a number of courses in civil, structural, and architectural engineering analysis and design. In research and professional practice, Dr. Corr specializes in a number of areas related to structural performance and the materials science of porous infrastructure materials. Specifically, Dr. Corr has studied the durability of concrete and timber, the rheology and fresh-state behavior of concrete, and fracture and cracking in cement-based materials.
Current research projects are ongoing in nanotechnology of cement-based materials, and large-scale additive manufacturing (3D printing). Many of Dr. Corr’s studies use imaging technologies and the advanced nanoscale characterization facilities that are available at Northwestern University. Dr. Corr has also conducted research in structural health monitoring, structural diagnostics, data analysis of structural performance, failure analysis and forensic engineering. Dr. Corr is the past Chair of the Cements Division of the American Ceramic Society, and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Illinois.
