James Jardine Water Filtration Plant East Filter Building

CTLGroup performed field investigation work in the East Filter Building at the Jardine Water Purification Plant beginning in May 2008. Field work included a visual survey of the channel slab undersides performed from walkway areas between the settling basins and filter beds. Supplemental high-intensity lighting was utilized during the surveys. Accessible underside areas of the channel slabs were reviewed in the north and south buildings. Surveys revealed areas where channel slabs exhibited deterioration, predominantly cracking and spalling, in the flange areas due to corrosion of flange reinforcement. Surveys also revealed areas where channel slabs exhibited damage due to topside penetrations and/or impact. CTLGroup reported these findings and made repair recommendations.
