CTLGroup conducted an evaluation into the weatherproofing of the North Branch of the Evanston Library, as well as the compliance of the existing front entrance of the Evanston North Branch Library to the requirements of the Illinois Accessibility Code. The evaluation included visual observation and measurements of the physical conditions at the front entry and a careful review of the Illinois Accessibility Code (IAC).
CTLGroup specified re-pointing the existing brick removal & replacement of the old windows with new aluminum frame double hung windows. The entry vestibule was updated with new doors, with ADA compliant operators.
The existing structure in the storefront windows was replaced, with the existing storefront itself being removed and replaced with a storefront knee wall that was rebuilt. Repairs also included the removal & replacement of the stucco and cladding. New lintel stones were installed above the storefront at the entrance, the old interior floor finish was removed and abated, and new carpet was installed. The project was completed within a short time frame to limit the time that the library was closed and was completed within budget.
