Vice President of Business Development

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute plans and strategies for growing new and existing business
  • Drive the execution of strategies, sales development, relationship management, account management, and best practices implementation to effectively sell services
  • Be a subject matter expert, consultant, and thought partner to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and manage practices to enhance the overall selling approach, improve cost effectiveness, and increase brand value
  • Problem solve for success and change in support of customer satisfaction and bottom line results
  • Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, messaging, and customer acquisition
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with major accounts
  • Create systems for sales cycle funnel; leads, prospects, pipeline, forecasting, and delivery
  • Generate and nurture new business relationships and inbound leads
  • Work with current clients to build and retain new business
  • Develop upsell opportunities
  • Own the full sales cycle, from qualifying leads to closing new deals
  • Develop and monitor a yearly budget
  • Evaluate pricing structure and develop strategy to remain competitive and profitable
  • Maintain a keen awareness of marketplace competition and industry trends

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field, Civil Engineering degree with consultation experience preferred
  • 10+ years of sales management/business development experience
  • Deep understanding of forensic civil engineering industry preferred
  • A proven track record of growing new business and achieving sales goals
  • Able to respond quickly and effectively to the needs of clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong customer-facing and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and negotiating skills
  • Must demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm for building business
  • Able to identify issues/needs through a consultative approach
  • Able to successfully collaborate with all other functional areas of the company
  • Must have an entrepreneurial mindset and act with a sense of urgency
