Event On January 22, 2020
CTLGroups’ Vice President of Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Rich Kaczkowski, P.E., S.E., will be presenting at the American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Wisconsin Chapter Dinner Meeting on Wednesday January 22.
Mr. Kaczkowski’s presentation, “I’m All Shook Up – Forensic Investigation of Damages from Adjacent Blast or Construction Events,” will discuss how property damages from construction events or nearby blasting are a common complaint, particularly in congested urban areas. This presentation compiles information from numerous damage claims from past forensic investigations. It addresses threshold vibration levels which may cause damage to various types of structures (including concrete and masonry construction), common risk sources, steps that may be taken to minimize damage risk, and how human perception of vibration can influence damage claims.
The ACI Dinner Meeting will be held at the Delafield Brewhaus in Delafield, Wisconsin with the presentation at 7 p.m. following cocktails and dinner. For further information on this event and how to register, please click here.
