We've evolved into a world-class resource for solving problems through materials technology and civil and structural engineering. The staff of approximately 150 includes experienced professionals from the fields of civil, structural, mechanical engineering, geology, chemistry, ceramics and materials science. Our clients range from mid-size contractors to major corporations in the construction, transportation, minerals and related industries throughout the US and internationally. Broad understanding of these complex areas is drawn from experience in both laboratory and field environments. The result: a benefit that can't be duplicated in a "pure" consulting setting.

We Contribute
With the firm's encouragement, our professionals actively participate in numerous technical committees of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), ASTM International, International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), as well as other technical organizations. They've had more than 500 articles published in technical journals and trade publications. We've proudly accepted awards for our achievements in materials and structural research and investigations.

Here's Our Unique Heritage
It was more than 90 years ago that Portland Cement Association founded a research and development center to serve its cement manufacturing members. From that beginning, the current 120,000-sq-ft complex just outside of Chicago, Illinois was established with 35,000 sq ft dedicated to laboratory and testing activities. Recognizing the value of its expertise in concrete and cement-based materials and structures to the construction industry, in 1987 CTL (Construction Technology Laboratories) began offering consulting services as an independent PCA subsidiary. Although CTLGroup continues to be best known for its expertise in concrete and cement-based materials and structures, our projects encompass virtually all structural systems and construction materials.
