Howard Kanare Speaks at Chicago Chapter of CSI
Howard Kanare, Senior Principal Scientist, and author of the Portland Cement Association book, "Concrete Floors and Moisture," spoke on topics related to one of the most challenging issues in construction today at the Union League Club in Chicago, IL on Mar. 20.
Kanare's presentation was entitled "Designing to Avoid Moisture Issues in Concrete Floor Substrates."
Summary: A problem that arises in almost every construction project, small or large is moisture in the concrete substrate. It continues to be the most costly and common of construction issues. It affects all flooring finishes applied to the concrete substrate including resilient, carpet, wood, terrazzo, and coatings. It is a problem which costs time and money. The result is delayed construction completion and often lawsuits result. The issue has been discussed, researched and debated. There are a variety of supposed fixes and sealers and adhesives. And lots of confusion. This is an opportunity to get the real definitive story.
