ASTM C 641 Standard Test Method for Iron Staining Materials in Lightweight Concrete AggregatesLab ID 668

Use
Testing of lightweight aggregate to determine the potential staining due to the presence of iron compounds in the aggregate.

Instructions
Submit a minimum of a 5 lb. sample. Sample must be representative.

Results Produced
A visual rating is given to the filter paper the aggregate was wrapped in after 16 hours in a steam bath. If substantial amount, the filter paper is digested in acid and iron content determined.

Time for Results
Results usually available within 5 working days.
