AASHTO T 26 Quality of Water to be used in ConcreteLab ID 599

Use
To assess corrosion potential of water in contact with concrete pipe or slabs. To determine suitability for use as concrete mix water.

Instructions
Samples should be collected in two clean 1-liter (1-quart) bottles. Samples should be refrigerated and arrive at the lab within 24 hours after sampling. Consult CTLGroup contact for detailed sampling instructions.

Results Produced
Acidity or Alkalinity (pH), Chloride ion concentration, Sulfate ion Concentration, Total solids and inorganic Matters. AASHTO T26 section 5.4 notes that a comparison of a given water sample with distilled water may be obtained through comparative testing in accordance with AASHTO tests T 107, T 131, or T 154 and T106. The same cement of standard quality would be used with each water.

Time for Results
Results are usually available within 10 working days.

Alternate Tests
For assessing suitability as mix water: pH, dissolved solids, SO4, Ca, Mg, Fe, Na, K, nitrate (NO3?), nitrite (NO2?), tannins-lignins, nonvolatile organics.
