Use
Determines the presence of: 1) air entrainers, water-reducers, or retarders in concrete; 2) latex polymer modifiers in mortar and tile grout; 3) grinding aids in cement. If a reference standard can be supplied, a quantitative analysis can be performed.

Instructions
Concrete samples must be large enough to properly represent the material of interest. Usually several pounds of hardened concrete should be submitted for analysis. For analysis of latex polymer additives in mortar or grout, a minimum of 100 grams of material is required. Cement should be sieved to pass a No. 20 sieve.

Results Produced
A narrative description of the organic constituents of the sample, based on extraction and spectrophotometric analysis of the residue of extraction. Quantitative data is expressed as a relative difference in concentration between the unknown and the standard, on a weight percent basis. "Good" and "Bad" samples should be tested.

Time for Results
Results are usually available within 10 working days.
