  CLICK TO DOWNLOAD PDF ARTICLE

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a family of voluntary rating systems for designing, constructing, operating, and certifying green buildings.

LEED is administered by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)—a coalition of individuals and groups from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. This project is based on version 2.2 of LEED for new construction and major renovation (LEED-NC).

Martha Van Geem, Principal Engineer and head of Building Science & Sustainability at CTLGroup, co-authored this 2007 article with Medgar L. Marceau.
