Taking Technology Forward
CTLGroup was mentioned in the March 1, 2010 Bridge Design & Engineering North America Supplement publication.
The article "Taking Technology Forward" highlights developments in technology that help engineers build longer lasting bridges. It examines the many forms these developments can take and cites CTLGroup's accomplishments on two major rehabilitation projects: the I-310 Hale Boggs (Luling) Memorial Bridge in Louisiana and the US-22 Veterans Memorial Bridge in West Virginia.
For Luling Bridge, CTLGroup's Chris Ligozio conducted an in-depth condition assessment and provided guidance on maintenance and rehabilitation, and ultimately the final design plans for the first-ever, complete stay-cable replacement (click here to view the project profile).
The firm's work on the Veterans Memorial Bridge by Chris Ligozio, CTLGroup metallurgists and the Sensors and Structural Diagnostics staff, involved the fracture analysis, evaluation and monitoring of tie-down anchor bolt failures conducted in preparation for 2009 repairs to this cable stayed bridge. Information about this project was presented at a session at the 2009 International Bridge Conference titled "09-42: Fracture Damage Assessment and Monitoring - Cable Stayed Bridge Superstructure Tie Down Anchorages."
