James LaneDirector, Structural & Transportation Laboratory & Principal Engineer
Mr. Lane has 21 years of consulting experience in materials engineering and failure analysis, with a focus on metallurgy and corrosion. He has expertise in the determination of root causation and problem resolution, and extensive experience conducting field and laboratory testing. His background also extends to the areas of materials characterization, fractography, metallography and mechanical testing.
Mr. Lane is responsible for technical and business operations of CTLGroup’s structural engineering test facility. Projects involve full-size and reduced-scale components that are subjected to static, dynamic and pseudo dynamic testing, serving a broad range of manufacturing industries.
Prior to joining CTLGroup, Mr. Lane was a principal engineer with a leading metallurgical engineering consulting group. There, he performed materials, corrosion and failure analyses, focusing on fractographic analysis and property/structure relationships.
Mr. Lane also served as director of laboratory services at an engineering consulting firm where he oversaw daily operations of four laboratories. His work there included supporting nuclear-related geotechnical and cement/concrete projects where quality assurance was paramount.
